New Year Resolutions aka Strategic Plan

Posted by in Strategic Planning | 0 comments

When people return to work after the Christmas and the New Year break, they are filled with new strategic planning ideas including goal setting and a rich vision of the future. Unfortunately, this kind of ‘airy fairy’ plan or ‘pie in the sky’ thinking will not get the organization into the Fortune 500 Top 100 companies list – unless it is done in a structured, methodical and organized manner with realistic, achievable goals. A company like Holland Resource can assist in carrying out a comprehensive analysis of the business structure. In this situation, making notes of how the business is run, look at the current trends in the business environment in which one operates, and lastly, putting together a serious SWOT analysis – this refers to Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.

Once these basics have been taken care of, some people still wonder whether they actually need a strategic plan. Consider where the business is now positioned and where it should be positioned and the answer will be a resounding “yes”! Somebody once asked whether advertising products and services was worth it and the reply was “Doing business without advertising is like winking in the dark – you know you are doing it, but nobody else does……” So forging ahead with no clue as to how to reach the destination is not sound business practice. Executives need to ask pertinent questions and find the answers. And this is a difficult process to achieve in a vacuum. The whole company needs to be on board and together as a vision of the future is mapped out is clear goals identified for each individual.

Holland Resource will set up the strategic planning session, guide the staff as to how to set goals and what is involved in that process, and then assist with the merging these aims into a visible achievable plan for the future success of the company.
